☕️💻 What do making a cup of coffee and buil ☕️💻 What do making a cup of coffee and building a website have in common? ✨ The other day I went to make myself a cup of coffee. I put water in the kettle. I put the grinds in the plunger. I went to the fridge to get the milk. No milk! I thought we had some milk left in the fridge but it wasn't there. Anyway... no biggie... I had green tea with mint. Nice, but not coffee. In the afternoon I went to make supper and I found the milk I was expecting to find in the fridge that morning sitting on the counter. So how does this relate to websites… There are things that people have come to expect from websites. If it looks like a button, it should be ‘clickable’. If it’s a blog, call it a blog not some extremely creative name you’ve thought up. No one will know what it is. No one will 'click'. People will move on. I expected to find the milk in the fridge so I looked in the fridge, not on the counter. People will come to your website expecting to find things and the more ease with which they can navigate your website, the better experience they'll have. If they can't find what they want, they may move on to a different website and buy a different service that they maybe didn't want, but was available. So the moral of the story... Put the milk back in the fridge so people know where to find it, and/or, make your website as easy as possible for people to find what they're looking for. PS. This doesn't mean your website can't be creative and beautiful.
